UPMRC Awards Rs. 384 Crore Contract for Elevated Section of the East-West corridor

  • Ranjit Buildcon Ltd. Bags contract for Construction of Viaduct and Five Metro Stations
  • Work to be completed within 2 years from commencement

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has achieved another significant milestone in the expansion of Lucknow Metro with the award of a major civil construction contract for the East West corridor (Lucknow Metro Phase-1B) planned between Charbagh and Vasantkunj. The contract, valued at approximately Rs. 384 crore, has been awarded to M/s Ranjit Buildcon Ltd. for the design and construction of the elevated metro corridor, including five elevated metro stations, between Thakurganj Metro Station and Vasantkunj Metro Station.

The contract has been awarded following a transparent and competitive tendering process conducted by UPMRC. After detailed technical and financial evaluation, M/s Ranjit Buildcon Ltd. emerged as the successful bidder and has been entrusted with the execution of this important section of the Phase-1B corridor.

The project is expected to significantly enhance urban mobility in Lucknow by improving connectivity, reducing road congestion and promoting sustainable transportation across the city.

Under the awarded contract, M/s Ranjit Buildcon Ltd. will undertake the design and construction of approximately 4.6 km of elevated metro viaduct, including station portions, along with a 740-metre ramp connecting the main viaduct with the depot entry and exit facilities.
The package includes construction of the following five elevated metro stations:
* Thakurganj Metro Station
* Balaganj Metro Station
* Sarfarazganj Metro Station
* Musabagh Metro Station
* Vasantkunj Metro Station

The scope of work also includes:
Associated ancillary structures
Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) structures
Architectural works
Water supply systems
Sanitary installations
Drainage infrastructure
External development works
Fire-fighting systems
Electrical and Mechanical (E&M) works

The entire work is scheduled to be completed within 24 months from the date of commencement.

Lucknow Metro Phase-1B is a key component of UPMRC’s vision to expand safe, reliable and sustainable mass rapid transit facilities across the city. The corridor will improve connectivity for densely populated areas and provide commuters with a fast and efficient alternative to road-based transportation.

The new metro section will connect important residential areas, commercial zones and transport hubs, making daily travel more convenient for citizens while reducing dependency on private vehicles.
